The Mill
The de-silting and land improvement of the lake and moat surrounding The Old Hall.
Client: Private Client
Scope Of Works: Dredging and De-silting
Duration: 10 Weeks
This was a very interesting and enjoyable project for us. The client being a keen fisherman wanted his lake that surround the home to be de-silted and to create a stunning landscape.
The job involved dividing the lake and moat by a clay bund. This enabled us to divert the multiple inlet culverts to by pass the lake and moat directly into the outlet to provide water for the active mill.
Due to projected 7000 cubic meters of silt in the watercourse. We devised an ecconomical plan to create a large lagoon to the rear of the estate to hold the silt for drying out to later be spread across the fields to form a “bowling green” finish landscape.
The fish were netted from the moat and returned safely to the main lake enabling us to drain the moat and start the de-silting. Once complete the moat was refilled by diverting our inlet system. The fish from the main lake were netted again and relocated safely into the newly desilted lake enabling the desalting of the main lake to commence. Using out fleet of excavators and plant and tractors we shifted the silt into the lagoon. Once complete the lake was refilled and the inlets were rediverted to create one unbelievable lake.
